STARTING WITH A FULL PICTURE

Supporting the Project

With the formation of our in-house engineering and design team, Carlton Electric will be able to deliver successful projects that are on-time, on-budget, and supported throughout by skilled and experienced employees. We will be able to expand our current support of projects from our pre-construction and estimating team, and provide additional in-house engineering as the project and project team requires it.

When a project already has full engineering support, Carlton Electric will support that team to produce drawings and designs that are successful to all parties. If Carlton Electric will be engineering and stamping the designs ourselves, we will hit these same high-level metrics while also incorporating our field and construction standards to build successful projects.

Engineering Services

  • Electrical Load Calculations: Sizing the electrical system to meet the project requirements now and into the future, while also meeting realistic electrical use and project budget.
  • Electrical One-Line Design: Creative solutions to fit the Owner’s project requirements while using the electrical equipment to benefit the project and stay safe.
  • Generator and UPS Sizing: Work to understand the project requirements and engineer the generator/UPS system that is optimally sized, safe, and reliable. Asking the right questions to the Owner is important: what fuel type, what systems to support, and what level of redundancy is needed.
  • Power Layouts: Whether this is the efficient layout of outlets, locations of electrical panels, room sizing, or equipment connections, these drawings are highly technical. We want to understand every element on the project that requires an electrical connection, and ensure that the proper power is delivered, at the correct location, and those costs are tracked.
  • Lighting Layouts: Deliver a lighting design that hits the Owner’s vision for their space and meets the demanding energy and code standards. As the energy codes evolve and change, we still continue to make our projects user friendly and beautiful to occupy.
  • Utility Coordination: Working with the local electric utility is as important as ever to the success of a project. The utility companies are critical to contact early, support throughout, and ensure our project meets their standards and time line. We will work hand-in-hand with the utility company’s design, contract, and construction crews.
  • HVAC, Refrigeration, and Plumbing: We understand the importance of these systems on our projects and continuously strive to support these separate teams and trades. We coordinate equipment placement, routing, connection requirements and controls so these piece run seamlessly.
  • Low-Voltage and Technology Coordination: Translate the Owner’s technology requirements for the project to provide necessary electrical infrastructure in our design documents. Equipment and device locations, conduit routing and stubs, coordination with other building systems, and discussions with the separate technology system installer and programmer.

Supporting the Field

Always a resource for our electricians in the field, our engineering team helps them through project challenges and seek out creative and code compliant solutions. Whether we are headed out to a job-site, walking through a project at a triangulation meeting, or just being able to answer a quick phone call, we strive to support our teams out on construction sites.

We regularly use our Carlton Electric training center to discuss the latest NEC and other code updates, while also walking through best practices and industry trends. We would also be happy to host anyone at our training center and talk through any of the electrical or safety questions.

Serving the Colorado Front Range

Our service areas cover Denver, Boulder, Broomfield, Aurora, Golden, Highlands Ranch, and most of the Colorado front range. We also have electrical construction experts who work with commercial businesses in select areas of Wyoming. When it comes to your project, finding a qualified and trustworthy electrical contractor is essential. Whether you are building from the ground up, redesigning your space, or wanting to upgrade your systems, our team can play a crucial role in ensuring a successful outcome.

As a design/build mechanical contractor we have much upfront coordination to do with the Design Build electrical contractor, during both bidding and design. Carlton Electric does design-build exceptionally well, and their in-house engineering department is practical, construction-minded minded and great to work with.
