Job Description
General Overview
A Superintendent is responsible for the general oversight and management of multiple jobs and project foremen. They are an ideal team player with exceptional leadership qualities and extensive knowledge of the electrical trade including proper installation practices, code compliance, manpower placement, problem solving, and troubleshooting. The Superintendent reports to the CEO.
Responsibilities
– Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and represent/instill Carlton Electric’s purpose and core values daily. Utilize the SAM (Set Direction, Align Resources, Motivate & Inspire) model of leadership and teach it to foremen.
– Work with the Field Operations Team to design, evaluate, and modify field operation practices and procedures to ensure standardized best practices. Teach and adhere to these processes and procedures.
– Work in a collaborative team environment that emphasizes teaching others and learning from others.
– Supervise specific construction projects/job sites in the company.
– Assist with and train foremen on leadership, planning and layout, scheduling, tasking, and coordination for multiple construction projects.
– Work with foremen to help ensure their project and crews have the right information, materials, tools, equipment, labor, and subs to be successful.
– Demonstrate, teach, and enforce proper safety practices including Carlton Electric’s Cardinal Safety Rules.
– Teach project foremen skills such as (but not limited to) leadership qualities, demonstrating and upholding Carlton Electric’s core values and purpose, field management techniques, document control, organizational practices, and technology usage on a regular basis.
– Work with project foremen, journeymen, and apprentices to teach and ensure quality installation practices and best practices for safety, quality, and productivity.
– Participate in and conduct reviews and collect feedback in a frequent and timely manner to ensure and foster proper development of field personnel.
– Work with Human Resources to participate in and/or conduct/implement performance improvement plans and growth plans.
– Participate in project meetings, foremen meetings, estimating reviews, weekly manpower meeting, etc. as needed.
– Understand project financials and provide input to the project manager on cost to completes, budgets, forecasts, etc.
– Help foremen to set and track labor productivity goals.
Qualifications
– Must possess a valid Colorado Journeyman Wireman or Master Electrician’s license for at least 10 years.
– Must have experience in a similar position for at least 5 years.
– Must have experience as a successful project foremen of projects valued at $5M+ electrical scope.
– Must be OSHA 30 and CPR/AED certified.
– Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
– Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check at any given point in time.
– Must be proficient in using Bluebeam for planning, layout and take offs.
– Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Outlook and Excel.
– Must be an early and enthusiastic adopter of new technology.
– Must possess mechanical and technical aptitude and a passion for working with your hands.
– Must demonstrate a focus on safety, quality, and goal attainment.
– Must be self-motivated, teachable, punctual, respectful, able to follow directions and be an ideal team player.
– Must possess exceptional leadership qualities and demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence.
– 4 years of trade school training or a 2-year technical college degree preferred.
– Denver Fire Alarm Journeyman License preferred.
– FMI leadership training is a plus.
Physical Demands
– Sitting, standing, kneeling, walking for prolonged periods of time.
– Be able to walk at speeds of up to 3 miles per hour.
– Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling – up to 100 pounds.
– Ability to bend at waist, hips, and knees, maneuver on a ladder (3/4 legged and extension ladders) for a prolonged period.
– Possess the ability to talk, hear, and see well either naturally or with correction.

Working Conditions
– Sometimes hot, cold, wet, muddy, humid, windy, and dry conditions depending on time of year.
– Must wear personal tools while working (tool harness, or belt).
– Ability to work from different heights such as on ladders and lifts.
– Potential to work in restricted areas such as manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, trenches, attics, vaults, switchgear rooms and more.
– All employees must always wear Carlton Electric required PPE (gloves, glasses, hard hats, safety boots).
– Potential to work overtime, nights, and holidays, sometimes on short notice, depending on project needs.
Compensation Package
Location: Denver Greater Metro Area/Front Range (Fort Collins to Colorado Springs)
Start Date: TBD
Status: Full-Time, Exempt/Salaried
Schedule: Normal working hours of Monday-Friday 7:00AM – 4:00PM.
Salary range: $90,000 – $120,000 depending on experience. *
*This pay rate is the good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of this job posting. Carlton Electric reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted rate if they believe the new range is determined in good faith. Carlton Electric reserves the right to adjust compensation based on, but not limited to, approved factors such as seniority, merit, quantity and/or quality systems, location, education, and/or training, and required travel.
